Goals: Claire Duckworth 1, Bianca Purpura 1(pk)
Within 30 seconds of the opening whistle Duckworth received a pass from Eve Costanzo and drilled one just missing off of the middle of the Cross bar and it was a sign of good things to come. Great Possession and ball control in the First half led by Center Mids, Makayla Zanders, Costanzo and Destiny Barton as well as support from Wings Bre Duncan and Maddie Harmon led the team to out shoot Spotsy 15-2 in 1st half. Huge contributions in both first and second half by Freshman Carmela Garner and Bailey Simpson as well as Senior Sam Everett allowed us to continually possess the ball in our offensive 1/3 which led to 75% possession in the 1st half and a 2-0 lead. Scoring started 10 minutes in with an early PK from Purpura after Zanders was taken down in the box. 15 minutes later Liberty struck again scoring on a 12 yd laser by Claire Duckworth. Defense was solid all half led by Marek, Holland and Crane, swarting off the efforts that Spotsy sent their way in their 4-3-3. In the 2nd half Spotsy was able to sneak one in 15 minutes into half 2 but Keeper Fiel along with the Defensive back four of Aston, Taylor, Striebling and Brinson along with HM Swartchick were able to send away any further efforts from Spotsy. . Good wing play by Smith and Chavez in the 2nd half as well as some well timed Offensive runs by Natalie Padilla, Garner and Simpson led to a couple late scoring chances by Liberty but they were handled by some excellent goal tending by Spotsys GK. Even though we weren't able to finish this was enough to maintain enough possession to keep Spotsy from any more solid opptys and we were able to hold on to the 2-1 Victory. .
First victory for the Lady Eagles in Over a year. All 22 should be very proud, But they know not to rest....we have two games coming up on next week, (Conference rival Fauquier and local Rival Manassas park at Home on the 20th and 22nd respectively,
